Dear Fellow UWOSA Members,
As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) persists to keep us apart and most of us away from working on Western’s campus, I wanted to provide a brief update regarding our annual general meeting. Our annual general meeting, in accordance with our Union’s Constitution, must happen in person in the month of April. As this cannot happen, this spring’s newsletter issue will contain information we would have presented at our April meeting, with the exception of the budget. Based upon recommendations received from a legal opinion from our Union’s lawyer, and requested by the Executive Committee, it was decided that the Stewards Council would review and approve our budget (May 1, 2020 – April 30, 2021) with the express understanding that it will be subject to review when the annual general meeting occurs. The Stewards Council unanimously approved the budget and its justification on April 16, 2020. The spring newsletter will be released within the next two weeks, so please watch your email for its announcement.
It is an interesting time for all of us, and we continue to appreciate your kindness and most of all your patience as we all continue to navigate in this new work environment as a union.
