Dear Fellow UWOSA member,
Thank you for those who reached out to the office concerning family obligations and work responsibilities during the current province-wide lockdown.
UWOSA has been advised by HR that UWOSA members will be accommodated based on their personal needs and situation. Anyone with childcare obligations that impact their ability to perform their work duties should speak directly with their supervisor to determine options. For example: flexible hours to accommodate obligations; use of personal/flex days; modification of work assignments; or, work assignments that are completed virtually.
After speaking with your supervisor, if none of these options are viable, you should fill out the absence notification tool to track your absence, and notify your supervisor that you are absent due to family obligations: https://www.uwo.ca/hr/safety/topics/covid_19/absence_tool.html
HR has assured UWOSA that compensation will continue for the month of January. The University will reassess the situation at the end of January and notify UWOSA of any updates.
We remind everyone how important it is for all of us to continue to support one another in the workplace (both on-campus and remotely) and help one another during this time of continued uncertainty.
If you have any concerns or questions we encourage you to reach out to UWOSA directly at info@uwosa.ca so we can support you.
Be kind. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
In Solidarity,
~ Nikki Grozelle, President, UWOSA
